3D won't limit it too much if it's programmed well.Ī very fun joke in that case! Personally my latest large Factory in FortressCraft Evolved still manages to run at full speed with only a 10-20% load on the main thread with the developer stating it can go up to 500%. The factories in this game can be massive. You can check out the screenshots in this. Originally posted by SSJ Rocky Rambo The Stampede: ģD Factorio already exists, and it existed BEFORE Factorio. I am not a programmer but just based on every other game that has tried anything like this, I am already worried. Another factory simulator waiting to steal 1000+ hours from me? Yes, please. Unloading of chunks is a deal breaker for me. Add 3D into the mix? Will it work? Even Minecraft couldn't/hasn't solved this issue in any version that has been released (And I bet that Microsoft has a bit of a larger budget than this game). The largest of the factories really lag quite a bit, but it is still running the whole thing. No matter how big your factory is, every single part of it is running in real time, all the time. If chunks get unloaded, paused, simulated, or ignored based on how far away the player is, the game is virtually broken out-of-the-gate.įactorio is the gold standard. IMHO these types of games only work if the whole factory is always running. I know there is nothing official on this, but I am concerned already.Īfter 1300 (or is it 1600?) hours in Factorio, I have experienced a lot of slow downs when building mega factories, but the entire factory is processed by the game.
